
Authorities now say road rage is to blame for a shootout that briefly closed the 60 freeway Friday afternoon.The east bound lanes of the 60 freeway near the Peck Road offramp were shut down around 2:30 p.m. after an off-duty L.A. County sheriff's deputy shot and wounded another motoristAccording to the Highway Patrol, a hispanic male in a Ford SUV pulled alongside the deputy's vehicle and brandished a gun.According to 911 calls, the deputy tried to drive away but was continuously trailed by the suspect, who fired his weapon into the deputy's car. The deputy returned fire, shattering the suspect's window and hitting him in the torso.The deputy, who was not identified, was believed to have been leaving work at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.
